The Course

The California Motorcyclist Safety Program 1-Day Premier Course is designed for experienced riders over 21 years old to secure their California, M1 motorcycle endorsement. If you are under 21, you must complete the Basic Rider Course.

This course begins with a skill pre-test where you will be expected to demonstrate your motorcycle riding ability. You will not be allowed to continue the course without successfully completing the basic riding skills test. Riders with a motorcycle operator license from another state and riders with riding experience will have no trouble with the pre-test. SRT will provide you with a motorcycle for completing the course if necessary.

Your Bike

Your motorcycle will be inspected prior to the start of class. Please ensure that tires, brakes, chassis, suspension, controls and final drive assembly are all in working order.

  • Documentation: Bring proof of current registration and insurance.

  • Street Bike: All bikes must meet minimum safety requirements and will be inspected prior to class.

  • Tires: At least 3mm of tread; tire pressure will be checked prior to class. Race, race-compound or car tires are not permitted in class, even if DOT-approved.

  • Liquid-cooled Bikes: Check coolant before attending class.

  • Oil Level: Check oil level before attending class.

  • Battery and Charging System: In good working order, able to handle frequent starts and stops.

  • Brakes: In good working order.

Your Bike

You may participate in riding sessions ONLY with proper protective riding gear.

  • Helmet: DOT-approved; full-face recommended.

  • Boots: Sturdy over-the-ankle boots. No canvas or cloth footwear.

  • Gloves: Full-fingered motorcycle-specific gloves. No fingerless, motocross or mechanics gloves.

  • Jacket: Motorcycle-specific jacket with armor.

  • Pants: Kevlar jeans, jeans, chaps, racing leathers or textile.
